American Idol is a reality singing competition created by Simon Fuller and produced by 19 Entertainment. Since airing on Fox in 2002, "American Idol" was the number one ranked television show of the 2000s decade. 


Ryan Seacrest has served as the show's host since the beginning. A large panel of celebrity judges have served on the show, including Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, Ellen DeGeneres, Kara DioGuardi, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Harry Connick Jr.

The show has resulted in music careers for artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips, Candice Glover, Lauren Alaina, Jennifer Hudson, Mandisa, Katherine McPhee, and others. Carrie is considered one of the biggest successes from the show since winning season 4 in 2005.
